‘During the past 100 years, the UK countryside has lost almost 70% of its ponds, making garden ponds of increasing value to wildlife. The creation of new ponds has never been more important’ - The Royal Horticultural Society.
Increasingly the environment is an important consideration for our clients. WCI have installed ponds, bog gardens and natural swimming ponds to complement reed bed systems in environmental developments or gardens. ‘Eco houses’ may incorporate geothermal heat pumps, wind turbines, solar panels, bore holes, grey water harvesting, irrigation schemes, as well as constructed wetlands and ponds. We work alongside other specialist disciplines to establish new habitats for biodiversity and a holistic approach to managing natural resources.
WCI can advise on and/or implement rectification of existing ponds, including the cleaning of ornamental fish ponds, removing of silts and plant colonisers, finding solutions to fluctuating water levels, relining with ‘puddling’ clay or artificial membranes.
We undertake well draw-down tests to assess adequacy as a primary or additional source of potable water, and advise on water filters and bacterial testing of drinking water for Environmental health.
